Kokanee Power hits Green Peter

green peter kokanee power oregonWhen you think about derby fishing you may think of high stress, high pressure, high competition and big egos.  But when you come to a Kokanee Power of Oregon Derby, it’s anything but.  KPO derby’s are about connecting with old friends, making new ones, exchanging information, and maybe even learning a new technique.  A Kokanee Power of Oregon derby is a place to hang out with people that have the same passion for kokanee fishing as me and my family.  Kids are encouraged to participate with free entry and they even get to participate in their own division.  It’s a place for anyone with a love for kokanee fishing to bring the family and have some fun.

The Kokanee Power of Oregon Green Peter derby was held this past weekend on May 19th and you couldn’t have asked for a better event.  The weather and conditions turned out to be fantastic and the fishing was good.  Many of the kokanee at Green Peter are of the cookie cutter variety with only a few over sized.  As a result, the race for first was tight, but The Parkdale Posse, a team comprised of Ken and Dawnell Espersen took how the $500 top prize with a five fish total of 2.86 pounds.

Upcoming events include:

Wickiup Reservoir – June 16th

Crescent Lake – July 14th

Odell Lake – August 18th
