Recipe: Salmon and Tartar Sauce

Many associate Tartar Sauce with fried foods, but as you will see, this variation of the sauce works great with fresh Salmon as well.  In this video, Andy Gibbs, the lodge Chef for Alaska King Salmon Adventures shares his family Tartar Sauce recipe with us.  As a staff, we were originally skeptical of the whole idea of taking a beautiful piece of fresh Salmon and adding Tartar Sauce to it.  Our minds quickly changed however, as we enjoyed bite after bite of the incredibly tasty combination.  Of course this sauce works great with all sorts of fish and even as Andy mentioned as a “mother sauce” for Thousand Island Dressing and even Cocktail Sauce.

How you cook your Salmon is up to you as the Tartar Sauce will work with any method that you prefer.  In this video Andy sears the Salmon, but baking and grilling would work just as well.
